Darren Hayes is expressing his gratitude after suffering a major injury.
The 52-year-old Savage Garden front man revealed on Friday (April 18) that he had a “terrible accident” last month that resulted in a broken jaw.
“I lost consciousness – I fainted shortly after getting out of bed and collapsed 3 times, losing consciousness each time. The blunt force trauma was so severe it snapped my left jawbone in half. I woke up in a pool of blood, terrible pain in my left side of my head and with 9 teeth shattered. I’m so lucky that I was found. I could have died if I landed in a different position,” he explained in an Instagram post.

The Truly, Madly, Deeply singer then went on to describe his lengthy recovery process, including his reconstructive surgery and physical therapy to restore his jaw function.
He also thanked his “incredible” team of doctors, and said that the professionals are currently investigating why he fainted in the first place. He then mentioned that the sudden lightheadedness that led to his fall was a “complete shock” due to his healthy lifestyle.
“I’ll be out of action for quite some time. I’m so grateful to be alive and every day I’m getting stronger. After surviving a brutal divorce, losing my Mother, finding out my father died and then this I have had moments of deep sadness. But I am a survivor and I’ll come back strong,” he concluded, referencing his 2023 divorce from Richard Cullen.
