Olivia Munn admits her cancer battle made her “insecure” about filming sex scenes for her new Apple TV+ series Your Friends and Neighbors.
If you didn’t know, the 44-year-old actress was diagnosed with breast cancer in April 2023. She then underwent a double mastectomy and has since had multiple surgeries.
In a new interview, Olivia admitted that the scars from her surgeries made her “nervous” about filming sex scenes with co-star Jon Hamm.
Keep reading to find out more…“I was really nervous about doing any sex scenes because I have a lot of scars,” Olivia shared with The Los Angeles Times.
“Scars that can be seen in clothing and scars that you wouldn’t know unless I was completely nude,” she added.
Because of her character’s dynamics with Jon‘s character, Olivia said she recognized the importance of the sex scenes in the show.
“She wants something so much more from him than he’s willing to give and their only connection is through sex,” Olivia explained. “I really wanted that to be portrayed. I wanted the sex scenes to feel like sex scenes — I wanted them to feel visceral and intense and not hold back at all.”
She also said that she and Jon worked with an intimacy coordinator and she also did a lot of soul searching, which she said helped her performance.
“I did feel insecure, but each time I did it, I felt better,” Olivia shared, adding that despite her illness she was “so grateful” for her body because it “got [her] through this.”
