When you really stop and think about it, Love Is Blind truly is an absolutely bonkers concept for a show, so it makes sense that SNL would want to make a sketch about the absurdity of it all.
Well, in an interview with Us Weekly, Mikey Day revealed that SNL had planned out an entire Love Is Blind sketch for the show, but it was lewd that it never aired.
And SNL isn’t one to shy away from controversial or risque sketches, so what exactly was so bad about this one that it was scrapped altogether?
Mikey explained that the concept for the sketch was to mock the whole premise of the show by giving it an incredibly NSFW twist.
He revealed: “It was a parody of Love Is Blind. It was called Love Is Ass. In Love is Blind, you don’t see the person.
“And in this, it would’ve been you’re sitting in a little room and there’s a little hole in the wall and someone just puts their ass [up to it] and all you can see is their ass. So you’re having a conversation staring at their rear end.”
Okay. Well, I can see why they decided not to air it in the end, although now I fear Netflix might see this concept and run with it.
Mikey added that whilst he was sad the sketch didn’t make the cut, he’s used to it at this point, adding: “I’m usually pretty good about moving on and being like, ‘all right, onto the next one.’”
Perhaps we’ll be seeing a new feature entering the Love Is Blind pods next season off the back of the axed sketch…
