Hairstylist finally spills Love on the Spectrum tea on why James’ hair looked so bad

Everyone whose watched the show knows how much James loves his hair, which he’s proudly grown over the years.

Hairstylist speaks out on James’ hair on Love on the Spectrum

A hairstylist who was there for Love on the Spectrum filming has revealed what happened to James’ hair during season three. During the scene where he goes to get his hair done, and comes out with a wild orange mane, a hairstylist called Erik claims that he was “there that day” and that the person who styled his barnet is his former boss.

He said, “The guy that did James’ hair was the owner of the salon, and originally it was meant to be a different, more qualified hairstylist who did James’ colour. But once the owner of the salon found out it was going to be for a Netflix show, he was basically like, ‘Oh, I’m going to do it.’ I will say that there were time constraints, he only had two or three hours which is not a lot of time at all to do James’ hair.”

Erik explained that the hairstylist didn’t leave bleach on James’ hair but rather high-light colour, adding, “I do recall him being toned but that just made a difference between the top and the bottom. Even if you’re not a hairstylist watching that, you can tell it’s just wrong. Like, the huge sections, the messy application, no gloves, like, crazy.”

Reality Shrine has contacted the hairstylist for comment.

Erik has claimed that the person styling James’ hair was underqualified and just wanted to be on a Netflix show. He also said that James’ roots were “that orange because that stylist used high-lift colour and didn’t wash anything out early,” highlighting again that bleach wasn’t used and that it “had nothing to do with sensitivity on James’ scalp.”

“As far as James being overwhelmed by the salon environment, they were by themselves in a private little room. Production didn’t want anyone else near them or around them, that’s why there’s literally no-one in the background – not an apprentice, not another stylist. And if you’re asking, like, ‘Why didn’t he use bleach?’, I don’t think it had anything to do with the time constraints,” Erik added.

“I really think that he thought the high-lift colour was going to do the job, and it just obviously didn’t,” he continued. A load of viewers are finally pleased to simply have closure over that moment, with one writing that the stylist “did James dirty.” And luckily, James’ hair is looking a lot better these days!
