On Thursday (April 17), the 38-year-old actress made an Instagram story post agreeing with an article from The Cut that called the tweet “a new low” for JK.

“Keep your Harry Potter lads. Wouldn’t touch it with a ten foot pole,” Nicola wrote on the post, referring to the upcoming HBO series in the franchise.

That day, the Bridgerton star also posted a video advocating for trans rights. In the clip, she revealed that she is starting a fundraiser for Not a Phase, a charity that supports trans adults in the UK.

“To see an already-marginalized community to be further attacked in law is really stomach-turning and disgusting, and these people celebrating it [are] more stomach-turning and disgusting,” she said, adding that she will match any donation up to 10,000 pounds.

“If you are a cisgender person who is an ally of a trans person, I think now is the time to just speak up and make your voice heard, and let your trans, nonbinary friends and just the community at large know that you’re there for them and will keep fighting for them,” she added.

“Allies of the Trans and Non Binary Community time to come together. F–k the Supreme Court, f–k the TERFs let’s raise some money,” she captioned the post.

On Friday (April 18), Nicola shared on her Instagram story that the fundraiser had already raised over 70,000 pounds.

If you didn’t see, last year, a popular Harry Potter star voiced his support for the LGBT community amid JK‘s comments.
